Codegroen
(Translated from the Dutch website Codegroen.)
Codegroen is a foundation that has been established to keep nature enjoyable for everyone.
Codegroen goals:
-
Codegroen represents the interests of participants of recreational sports in the countryside, and wishes to help reduce nuisance that recreational sports may cause.
-
Forming a knowledge base by gathering information on natural and / or environmental (technical) and legal services to ensure the continuity of these forms of recreation .
-
Keeping and maintaining outdoor areas, roads and paths and guard them against paving or closure.
Abroad similar foundations have been active for years.
Codegroen started in France in the eighties under the name ‘Codever’, where they support hikers, bikers, quads, motorcycles, riders and 4x4 users even today by keeping the paths and roads open for use to the general public.
Once a year nationwide they organize "the day of the path", where people armed with garden tools wander into the countryside to restore overgrown and neglected paths and single tracks by pruning and weeding.
Maintaining the old church roads and other paths, has a cultural importance as well. These roads and paths previously had a function. Just because we are now mainly moving on motorways is no reason to let the paths become overgrown and closed.
It is also important to contain the urge of municipal councils to asphalting every road and path. Not everything needs to look sleek and gray. eg The presence of sandy paths increase the attractiveness of certain areas, a growth of wildlife and has a positive impact on the price of real estate in the area.
Codegroen has a noise measuring tent in which the noise of the motorbike exhaust can be measured. Advice on how to reduce the sound output by mounting the appropriate dB killer is available.
